AC Motor Wiring

Description: We created this equipment to give students hands-on experience regarding AC motor wiring to control the motor, such as start-stop, reverse rotation direction, wye-delta configuration (3-phase AC motor), etc.

Action Cam

Description: Camera for recording specimens during testing.

Specification:

a. Sony AS200VR – White Action Camera, ½ .3” Exmor R CMOS Sensor, 8.8 MP, Memory Stick

b. SJ CAM SJ5000 + Full HD 1920 x 1080p, 16 Megapixel 1/2.33″ CMOS Sensor, 170 Degree HD Wide-angle Lens

Alignment Process

Description: Shaft alignment is an absolute requirement before the machine is put in service. If the alignment process isn’t done properly, misalignment can cause increased vibration and loads. Therefore, students will get hands-on experience regarding the alignment process with the face and rim method.

Balancing of Rotating Equipment

Description: The laboratory-scale balancing equipment is built to demonstrate the 1-plane and 2-plane balancing process with phase angle or three trial mass method.

Bump Test and Resonance

Description: Students perform a bump test to find the natural frequency of the system. Afterward, the system is excited by the unbalance force, and students observe the system’s mode shape when resonance occurs.

DC Power Supply and DC Motor

This apparatus is designed for practical learning. It helps the student to have a better understanding of the DC power supply working principle and also DC motor characteristics.

Displacement Measurement Device

Description: Used to measure the displacement that occurs in the specimen when subjected to loading.

Specification:

a. National Instrument NI 9201, 8-Ch AI Module, Screw Term, +/-10 V, 12-Bit, 500 kS/s

b. National Instrument NI 9927, Strain Relief and Operator Protection

c. National Instrument DAQ-9174, CompactDAQ chassis (4 slot USB)

Dynamic Hydraulic

Brand: SCHENCK

Description: We have four hydraulic cylinders that can work simultaneously, and each cylinder is capable of generating sinusoidal motion up to 60 Hz with constant stroke.

Earthquake Simulator

Brand: SCHENCK

Description: Earthquake simulations are generally performed to examine the effects of earthquakes on man-made engineered structures. Studying a structure’s response to an earthquake is achieved by putting the structure model on a shake-table that simulates the seismic loading.

Free and Forced Vibration

Brand: Tecquipment

Description: This apparatus can be presented in two configurations. In the first configuration, free vibration, students learn how to determine spring stiffness and damping coefficient experimentally. Meanwhile, in the second configuration, forced vibration, the system is excited by the unbalance force, and students observe the system’s response.

Introduction to Control Systems

Description: Students learn P, PI, and PID controller characteristics to control the DC motor and the heater temperature.

ISO Standard Vibration Test

Description: Students conduct vibration measurement and compare the vibration result with the vibration ISO standard. On the other hand, students learn how to identify the bearing failure based on vibration spectrum analysis.

Laser Sensor

Description: Used to read the position of a specimen.

Specification: Keyence IL-600 Digital Cmos Laser Sensor

Load Cell

Description: Used to measure the load on the specimen.

Specification: MKC16A Cap. 30 Ton

Measurement Systems – Digital Weighing Scale

Description: Measurement systems are divided into four elements, i.e., sensing, signal conditioning, signal processing, and data presentation element. Therefore, we developed this digital weighing scale to represent measurement systems, and students can easily see and differentiate each element.

Set of Battery Packing Tester

Brand: DC Power supply (KUAIQU), Logger (MASTECH), Resistance Meter (HIOKI)

Description: The tester is used to evaluate battery packing during the charging-discharging process with controlled DC current and voltage. The tester includes a DC power supply for battery charging, an electronic load for battery discharging, a sample of lithium-ion battery arrangement, a thermocouple for temperature measurement, a logger for data retrieval, and an electric resistance measurement instrument.

Spot Welding Machine Tools

Brand: SUNKO

Description: The spot-welding machine tool is used to create joints between the cylindrical battery cells and conductors such as nickel plates. Spot welding enables effective electrical joints without redundant heat generation causing battery cell damage.
